What you learn

An IOO with the World Game is a broad, action-oriented assessment that shows a pupil’s capacities, wellbeing and school results. The didactic assessment tests the learning areas reading, spelling, writing, automatisation, reading comprehension at micro, meso and macro level, arithmetic, spatial intelligence, learning styles and eye coordination. Combined with the non-verbal World Game, it also reveals the underlying aspects that influence them: the cognitive capacities (possibly giftedness), the preferred way of processing information (visual or verbal), and any social or emotional blocks.

As an Expert you put the quantitative results (test scores) in perspective with the qualitative information (observed behaviour plus the World Game). Because the World Game is projective, it cannot be practised in advance: a pupil unconsciously shows where they need help.

An IOO is especially useful when:

  • You want to know whether behaviour or learning problems relate to a strong visual or verbal processing preference
  • Regular, language-based tests do not give a clear picture
  • You need a broad view of capacities and gaps, didactically, cognitively, socially and emotionally

In an extensive report (the template is part of the training) you combine all data into a conclusion and advice for further guidance or research.

The modules

Each module day gives you the knowledge and lets you practise it yourself; between modules you practise with the World Game with your own pupils.

  1. 1 · Signaling

Theory and background of the official Ojemann World Game, and signaling the pedagogical aspect (visual or verbal information processing) and the affective aspect (wellbeing) with the scoring and notation forms. Includes the World Game with user licence and the manual.

  2. 2 · Cognition and giftedness

Signaling the cognitive level and possible giftedness through the developmental stages and the giftedness list, which is being researched with Radboud University. Valuable where language is a barrier, such as with neurodivergent pupils (ASD, AD/HD, dyslexia, DLD) and pupils who speak another language.

  3. 3 · Individual educational assessment (IOO)

You learn to carry out a complete IOO for pupils aged 5 to 15, plus a kindergarten assessment related to school readiness. You receive all tests with scoring and norms, and learn to administer, interpret and report them.

  4. 4 · Practical exam

In the weeks that follow you carry out a full IOO with a pupil and write up the results in an official report.

  5. 5 · Intervision

A day where everything comes together: participants bring their own cases to discuss, with plenty of room for questions. It supports you in finishing the practical assessment you hand in before the theory exam.

  6. 6 · Theory exam

A written exam on cases, in which you also assess a World Game with the scoring forms. You may use your books and notes. You cannot ‘fail’: we keep guiding you until you reach the required level.
